First position the pointer on the desktop so that it is not over an icon and then right-click to see the following context-sensitive menu displayed:
Choose Properties from this menu and the Display Properties dialog is displayed:
Click the Settings tab in the upper right of the dialog to see the following section of the dialog:
Position the slider that is found in the lower left of the dialog to at least 1024x768 resolution and then click the OK button to finish.
